Café Associate

Full time and Part Time available

Position Objective:

The Cafe Associate position for the Heritage Cafe is responsible for all customer service and food/beverage activities, including greeting customers, answering questions, offering assistance/guidance, suggesting items, lending opinions, providing product information, and maintaining the cafe.

Position Requirements:

  • Food and beverage service with a customer service focus
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic demeanor with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service
  • Understanding of sales principles and best customer service and food service practices
  • Proficient in verbal and written English language
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision
  • Ability to multi-task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of the position, including constant handling hot items, moving, talking, listening, reaching, and standing for at least two consecutive hours.
  • Ability to always remain professional, courteous, and calm

Position Responsibilities:

  • Providing quality, safe and clean food and beverage service
  • Continuously greet, assist, and advise customers with food/beverage selection
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Provide accurate information such as product ingredients and pricing
  • Answer customer questions about specific products
  • Makes suggestions and encourage the purchase of products
  • Cross-selling of products and/or services
  • Ensure cafe is stocked, clean, organized
  • Inform customers about discounts, promotions, sales, and specific offers
  • Stay up to date with new products and services
  • Provide customer feedback to General Manager

Qualifications:

  • No cafe or food service experience necessary, but preferred
  • Must have an interest in food/beverage service and the ability to work cleanly
  • Ability to handle multiple/competing demands upon time management, especially during peak seasonal sales periods.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must possess a genuine desire to provide exceptional customer service
